No, it’s not a joke. Rapper Kendrick Lamar is seriously launching his own salad, in collaboration with Sweetgreen, and calling it Beets Don’t Kale My VibeBillboard reports.

Since 2013, Sweetgreen — an East Coast salad chain — has been selling t-shirts with the words “Beets Don’t Kale My Vibe,” a pun on Lamar’s “B**** Don’t Kill My Vibe” single from the good kid, m.A.A.d city album. Fast forward two years and the “King Kunta” rapper wants in — “Lettuce make this into a real salad,” Lamar, if he had any humor, might have said.

So what is the Beets Don’t Kale My Vibe made of?

The hip-hop salad contains “shredded local kale, roasted chicken, goat cheese, organic wild rice, and flash roasted beets, which are marinated in balsamic vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, and a hint of honey.” If you want to munch on Lamar’s greens, swing by Sweetgreen’s Sweetlife Festival next month; the company will be honoring the rapper who is headlining the event.

Beets Don’t Kale My Vibe will also be available at all Sweetgreen locations through the month of May.

Lettuce hope that this is just the tip of the iceberg and Lamar will romaine in the salad business.
