Baltimore Mom Praised For Whooping Rioting Son [Watch]

One Baltimore mom is being praised across media platforms after footage of her beating her rioting son went viral.

In the video, which was captured Monday following the funeral of Freddie Gray, the unnamed woman can be seen slapping and pushing the teen away from a crowd of people. The woman can also be overheard giving her son a profanity-laced lecture about why his actions are not okay.

According to WMAR, the mom took to the streets after seeing her son on television throwing rocks at police. The news station also said that Baltimore Police Commissioner Anthony Batts applauded the mom for stepping up.

Since the riots will likely result in adolescents being jailed or harmed by the police, it would be great if more parents take charge and keep their children from partaking in violent demonstrations. The family of Gray asked for peace in the city on the day that their son and brother was laid to rest. Unfortunately, their pleas fell on deaf ears.

“To see that it turned into all this violence and destruction, I am appalled,” said Richard Shipley, Gray’s stepfather, according to WTVR.

“I want y’all to get justice for my son, but don’t do it like this here,” said Gray’s mother Gloria Darden.

“I don’t think that’s for Freddie,” his twin sister Fredericka Gray said. “I think the violence is wrong.”

As previously reported, Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake has declared a state of emergency in the city of Baltimore and has imposed a week-long curfew as unrest and violence ensues.
