Even 15 years ago, Marilyn Mosby was not one to be played with.

In a clip from a 2000 “Judge Judy” episode, the Baltimore City State’s Attorney flawlessly argues her case against fellow tenant Ryan Johnson, whom she accused of breaking into her apartment.

As the story goes, the then 20-year-old Tuskegee University undergraduate student left her four-bedroom apartment in Alabama during the summer break and returned to find out that her residence had been broken into. According to the Boston native, Johnson had broken down her door, trashed her apartment and hosted his pregnant wife’s baby shower in her home while she was away.

Mosby was prepared with plenty of photographic evidence to present before Judge Judith Sheindlin. Though the defendant tried to argue that he was not responsible for the break-in, Sheindlin quickly read through his act and ruled in Mosby’s favor. Apparently, Johnson didn’t set aside enough time to get his story straight because his written account of the incident was dramatically different from the testimony he delivered in court.

“Mr. Johnson, what you did to this young woman was wrong,” she said. “You figured she is a college student, she has no way of fighting back, she has nothing else to do … You took advantage of her.”

“You’re going to get every cent that you’re suing for,” Sheindline tells the future top prosector.

A relieved Mosby walked away from the courtroom that day after being awarded $1,731.90 to cover the damages.

Like a boss.
