Leah Still Facing New Stem Cell Transplant Complication

For the last few months, we’ve watched Cincinnati Bengals’ Devon Still and his daughter Leah battle her ongoing fight with cancer. After discovering her cancer had gone into remission, a few months ago, Leah was scheduled to undergo a stem transplant. The transplant was supposed to help promote healthy bone marrow and lower the risk of a relapse. Now, sadly, his 5-year-old daughter has hit a new complication with the procedure.

Devon took to Instagram to ask for love and prayer for Leah. He stated,

I need some prayers sent up for Leah tonight! We hit a pretty serious complication from the stem cell transplant called VOD. They caught it early so hopefully it gives the doctors a better chance of stopping it from getting aggressive. As you can imagine our minds are all over the place but we’re going to try and remain positive! #LeahStrong#WaitingForTheDayEverythingReturnsToNormal

For those of you wondering, VOD, veno-occlusive diease, is a blocking of blood vessels in the liver that can occur in stem cell transplant patients. It can set Leah back from all of the progress she has made.

Hopefully, things will get better for Leah. Our thoughts and prayers are truly with the Stil family.
