The summer is coming to a close and it’s time for this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. The awards show has enjoyed 31 years of jaw-dropping moments and here’s a look at some of the more memorable ones.
It was the twerk heard around the world. Miley Cyrus shed her wholesome Hannah Montana image once and for all during her VMA performance last year. On the stage with Robin Thicke who was singing his summer smash hit “Blurred Lines,” Cyrus backed up in front of Thicke and twerked her heart out while pointing an oversized rubber foam “We’re No. 1” hand in an unmentionable place. For weeks afterward, it was all anyone could talk about. The incident helped Cyrus reach a new level of success with her singing career.
