It appears that illegal butt injections have claimed the life of another young woman in search of a shapelier backside.
According to the New York Daily News, Kelly Mayhew, 34, of Maryland traveled to Queens, New York Saturday to have a butt lift procedure done, but things went horribly wrong. Mayhew’s mother, who accompanied her on the trip, says that shortly after she was injected in her buttocks with silicone, her daughter began gurgling and struggling to breathe.
The victim’s mother, who has not been identified at this point, quickly sprang into action, attempting to perform CPR on her daughter. She also asked the phony plastic surgeon to call 911, but instead, the suspect grabbed her keys, fled the basement of the Far Rockaway home, hopped into her gray SUV and sped away.
Mayhew’s mother shared that her daughter was healthy and had undergone five other butt enhancement procedures prior to the deadly incident. Mayhew was rushed to St. John’s Hospital where she was declared dead. The victim’s mother told police that the procedure was set up by a family friend, whom she was unsuccessful in trying to reach after her daughter’s death. According to sources, the friend wiped her social media accounts clean after the incident.
A quick once-over of Mayhew’s Facebook account reveals that she was was a fan of both Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé and that she adored her curves. An initial autopsy performed on the 34-year-old was inconclusive.
“Following the examination, we are doing additional studies and also await the police investigation,” said Julie Bolcer, spokeswoman for the city medical examiner’s office.”
Police are still searching for a suspect. So far, no arrests have been made relating to this unfortunate incident.
