I remember the first moment it occurred to me that my boyfriend and I had drastically different spending habits: I invited him to a bar where some of my friends were hanging out and he said, “I shouldn’t really spend money right now so I’ll just stay in.” Stay in?? I understood not wanting to spend money but for me, that never meant sacrificing socializing. But maybe it should…When my credit card bills became more than I could handle, I started paying closer attention to how my boyfriend lives because, well, he didn’t have overdue credit card bills. And this is what I learned.
