On the off chance you believe the publicity stunt that is Nicki Minaj And Meek Mill’s relationship, allow us to set the record straight about one aspect of this romantic rap duo: wedding bells are not in their immediate future.
Nicki’s actually to blame for the rumors Meek put an engagement ring on it. Last month the “Pills N’ Potions” rapper posted a picture of her ring finger sporting a rather nice sized heart-shaped diamond with nothing but emojis for a caption, forcing fans to read between the lines. But those who read into the picture thinking it meant Nicki was engaged are dead wrong, and Meek Mill said so himself.
The Philly rapper is the cover subject of The Fader’s latest issue and when he was asked about his new relationship, he said in no uncertain terms:
“It’s definitely real, but it ain’t really time to get married yet. We’re still learning each other, feeling each other out.”
Funny enough, T.I. just so happened to be in the same Beverly Hills restaurant where the interview was conducted and The Fader’s contributing writer Will Stephenson caught this gem of an exchange between the two:
Like most people Meek has crossed paths with lately, T.I. excitedly congratulates him on his engagement. “I ain’t engaged,” Meek says sheepishly, but T.I. isn’t having any of it. “You never asked her, ‘Will you be my girlfriend?’ But she is your girlfriend,” he says. “You may not have asked her, ‘Will you marry me?’ But you are engaged.” Meek shrugs, unable to argue with this logic. “I’ve said my part,” T.I. says, backing away with his hands up. “As long as you know what’s going on.”
Uh apparently he doesn’t.
