Over the weekend, we told you that Cornell “Nelly’ Hayes was arrested and charged with felony drug possession, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Earlier today, the single dad took to Instagram to address the arrest and take responsibility for his actions. His statement reads:
Although I am unable to speak to the legal specifics and my attorney has put out a preliminary statement, I feel the need to take responsibility for my choices in needing to be more aware of the people I associate with and allow onto my property while committing to make better choices moving forward.
While my instinct of course, is to be accessible to my friends, fans and acquaintances, the last thing I would want to do is compromise the respect and admiration of my friends, family and fans.
As previously reported, the rapper’s tour bus was pulled over in Tennessee. Upon inspection, officers discovered “five colored crystal-type rocks that tested positive for methamphetamine,” “a small amount of marijuana,” “other drug paraphernalia,” and “numerous handguns.”
Six occupants of the bus, including Hayes, were taken to jail. The rapper and reality star posted his $10,000 bail and was released. Hayes is scheduled to appear in court in June.
