Videos of military parents surprising their unsuspecting children have become a common occurrence on social media, but for some reason, these emotional reunions never get old.
The latest duo to steal our hearts is 8-year-old Joshua Bass and his dad Corporal James Bass. Joshua learned that his father’s year-long deployment to Kuwait had come to an end when James popped up at the Pearsontown Magnet Elementary School in North Carolina on Friday.
Josh was right in the middle of posing for a school picture when his dad emerged from behind the backdrop and began photobombing him. After the flicks were snapped, the photographer allowed Joshua, who was still unaware of his dad’s presence, to see the outtakes.
“Your dad? How did he get in the picture?” the photographer asks Joshua. “Your dad is not in the picture.”
The 8-year-old then turns around to see his father standing behind him. Joshua immediately leaps into James’ arms and the two proceed to talk about how much they missed each other and how good the surprise was.
“You still got it,” Josh tells his dad.
Umm, adorable!
