Unfortunately, Big Sean and Ariana Grande are no more. The musical duo confirmed their split to Us Weekly after just eight months.
“They both deeply care for each other and remain close friends,” a rep for the ex-couple shared in a joint statement. “We kindly ask that the media respect their wish for privacy regarding this personal matter at this time.”
A specific reason for the split was not disclosed; however, if sources are correct, their hectic touring schedules are to blame. Supposedly, the quiet and amicable split went down a few weeks ago.
“They made the decision to part ways because their conflicting touring schedules would keep them apart over the next year,” a source explained.
Interestingly, on April 4, Sean took to Twitter with a cryptic tweet seemingly directed at Ariana.
Ariana first confirmed her relationship with Sean in October of 2014.
“He is one of the most amazing men in the whole world, and that includes my grandfather and my brother,” she gushed. “I think the world of him, and he’s an amazing person. That’s kind of all there is to it.”
If their split was in fact due to scheduling issues, then perhaps there’s a chance that these two can revisit their relationship in the future. I’m not exactly sure why I was so surprised by news that this relationship did not last. Perhaps I was rooting for these two more than I realized. I also really hate to see couples break up.
