The United Negro College Fund (UNCF) is channeling the golden hearts of the iconic Michael Jackson and Ray Charles to dole out scholarships for high-achieving students in need, EurWeb reports.
The Michael Jackson scholarship will provide financial aid for high school seniors planning to major in social science or communication arts in a UNCF college or university. Candidates must write an essay, complete an application profile, and provide a transcript. Candidates must also have a 3.0 to 4.0 grade point average (GPA).
If selected, the student will be moonwalking with a $5,000 award.
As for the Ray Charles scholarship, UNCF partnered with the Ray Charles Foundation to make this college grant a reality. To be eligible for this scholarship, students must be African-American juniors enrolled at a UNCF college or university and demonstrate an unmet need in financial assistance.
If you don’t have a GPA between 3.0 and 4.0, you can “Hit the Road Jack” because this scholarship is for students with impressive grades.
“The mission and purpose of the foundation came from Ray Charles himself,” ScholarshipOnline wrote. “In 1996, under his direction and guidance, the foundation embarked on a pattern of generous contributions and donations to various educational institutions across the United States.”
The award amount from the Ray Charles scholarship is $4,500.
