Earlier this month, Monica Brown unveiled the cover art for her new album, Code Red, along with her fiery red pixie cut. She has since released her first single, “Do Me Like That,” featuring Jeezy and Yo Gotti.
On the track, she sings about a relationship going sour after learning that her boyfriend is actually married with children. “Do Me Like That” has a bit of a trap sound and it’s kind of hard to resist bopping your head to the beat. She sings:
Boy, why you acting like that?
Why you start acting like that?
‘Cuz before you were acting like that, you would never do me like that.
Why you do me like that? Like that?
Now I do you like this right back.
Now you saying I don’t know how to act.
Maybe ‘cuz you do me like that.
We’re not sure if this was this sound that we were expecting for the first single, but we do understand that artists hate to be boxed in and enjoy dabbling in a little bit of everything. We’re looking for to hearing more from Monica though. “Do Me Like That” is currently available for purchase on iTunes.
