Details regarding the alleged abuse a 27-year-old woman suffered at the hands of her ex-fiancé, NFL player Ray McDonald, continue to make headlines and the allegations made by the new mom are quite alarming.

In the victim’s request for a temporary restraining order against the McDonald obtained by the San Jose Mercury News, she alleges that the 290-pound athlete began a pattern of “verbal abuse and controlling behavior” following their February 2014 engagement. She adds that the mental abuse quickly became physical, escalating into “pushing and shoving” and then “full attacks that happened frequently.”

The unidentified woman, who recently gave birth to the defensive lineman’s 2-month-old baby, adds that the abuse continued into her pregnancy. During one incident, she alleges that he “choked me, dragged and tried to remove me from the house and put his knee in my stomach when I was 10 weeks pregnant.” According to the new mom, McDonald has a drinking problem that worsens his behavior.

“I was ashamed to tell friends and family,” she explains in legal documents. “I hoped he would change. He changed some, but he began drinking again so I moved out.”

Following McDonald’s May 25 arrest, the victim was issued an emergency protective order which prohibited the troubled linebacker from coming within 300 feet of his ex-fiancée and their baby. The order expired Monday, which is why the 27-year-old was back in court Tuesday requesting a temporary restraining order against the 30-year-old.

As previously reported, McDonald was arrested twice last week. Once for allegedly pushing and pulling her violently while she held their baby in her arms, and another time for allegedly violating the emergency protective order.

Prosecutors have not determined whether or not they will pursue charges against McDonald.
